Country Squire

As the name suggests, these guitars will appeal to country players, but no matter what kind of music you favour, the ultra simple, single cutaway, bolt-on neck guitar that first appeared at the turn of the 1950s lends itself to many diverse musical styles.
The Country Squire range is Fret-King’s nod to the guitar that started it all!
Throughout the history of rock’n’roll, guitars like the Country Squire have been at the heart of so many musical genres: country, soul, blues, rock, jazz and more.
With the Fret-King Country Squire, we have taken the liberty of respectfully raising the bar, with a 22-fret neck with medium jumbo frets, in a maple/rosewood combination with a deliciously comfortable 60s shallow ‘C’ neck profile.
The neck utilises a 10” fingerboard radius to facilitate easier string bending, with a slinky, quick playing action.
By utilising an original spec small diameter truss rod, there is a much greater ratio of wood to metal, all contributing to keeping the vintage tone you would expect from this style of guitar.
Acoustic chambers in a double bound swamp ash body create a refined and resonant guitar, which retains the spirit of those hallmark 50s sounds; and it looks spectacular too.
In keeping with the Fret-King philosophy, we’re out to give you that little bit more, where beauty is more than skin deep. The Country Squire Semitone has a deep black base finish to the edges of the body, with completely hand-applied, nitro-cellulose lacquered and polished real abalone design gold leaf body front and back with a matching deep black headstock. The whole piece is complemented by a unique custom phenolic bakelite pickguard and luxurious gold hardware throughout.
The bridge is a specially adapted Wilkinson WT-3, providing ultimate intonation adjustment and tuning stability. A set of 3 custom matched Fret-King vintage voiced single coil pickups running through a specially designed circuit provide far more than you’d expect on the tone front.
The 5-way switch gives a standard varied selection of the 3 pickups, with an added ‘push-pull’ tone pot giving you the bonus of bridge + neck pickups together, regardless of the position of the 5-way switch.
The fully intonatable Wilkinson® WT3 bridge rounds off a truely professional instrument.
