STVDIO Series
Corona 50 SP '54'

There is no mistaking a "54".
The first years production utilised Pickup covers made by vacuum forming rather than plastic moulding, hence the larger edge radius which when aged and played exhibited the tendency to split and wear away thereby exposing the coil windings beneath.
As with all things "vintage" it is this kind of "fault and wear" or "patina" as the antique collector market calls it tht really makes this cool and desirable.

P90 were with us 2 years prior but not with the same company, what a pity as adding one these to in the bridge pickup makes the Corona 60SP "54" truly usable for todays players.

"50s'" one piece maple necks were a left-over from the original no truss rod design hence their extra girth and mass, no doubt adding to the resonance and "ring" of this style of guitar.

"modern-Vintage" or Vintage-Modern, you decide.
